I began playing the violin at six years old. I chose to study music at the collegiate level at Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music in Indiana. It was there I discovered my passion for teaching. Working under great teachers, Mimi Zweig and Brenda Brenner, I assisted young children in their musical pursuits. It was a perfect fit. While I was there, I observed how much fun and how effective weekly group lessons are for the encouraging and motivating young musicians.
After finishing my Bachelor's, I returned to Utah to marry my high-school sweetheart, and complete my Master's in Music (Violin Performance) at the University of Utah. While there, I was awarded a position in the Graduate String Quartet and began the Davis County Suzuki Violin School.
After finishing my Masters Degree at the University of Utah, I have had the privilege of working with wonderful students and parents. I am a registered Suzuki teacher, and continue my training every year so that I am constantly improving my ability to help and connect with each child in my studio.
I have three children of my own, and two are in Suzuki lessons with other teachers. A few years ago I became a trained Suzuki Early Childhood Education teacher as well.

VIOLIN LESSONS FOR KIDS AGE 3 AND UP
What makes violin lessons with me so unique?
My students attend a private lesson each week and have the option to attend group lesson either weekly or monthly with other children of a similar age and level of experience.
My emphasis on group lessons truly provides the education that children want and need. So often, young music students burn out due to lack of interest, or lack of motivation. Group lessons nip that in the bud! The kids want to be with their friends, and playing the violin provides an opportunity for creativity, growth, hard work, discipline, and...fun with friends!
Private lessons allow the personalized, one on one attention essential to the development of strong technique and musicality while group lessons are a great format for learning music history and theory, improvisation, composition, and teamwork.
It's a win-win.
